Biography of
Haaland is a former Norwegian soccer player, and a fierce
defender who became famous in the World Cup tournaments, in addition to being a
player in the British Manchester City team.
beginnings
Haaland moved to England to join First Division club
Tottenham Forest after a lengthy transfer. Attempts to sign Haaland began with
Brian Clough in October 1992 but were completed under the management of Frank
Clarke in December 1993. He made his first-team debut for Forest against
Leicester City. In July 1997, Haaland then joined Leeds United under George
Graham.
In 2000, Haaland left Leeds to join Manchester City for a
fee of £2.5 million. In April 2001, during a match against Manchester United,
Roy Keane confronted Haaland, kicking him in the right knee, with what some
describe as one of the worst tackles in football history to stop Kane. above
Haaland saying "stop pretending", which led to him being promptly
sent off and Kane subsequently fined £5,000 and banned for three matches. Keane
stated that the tackle was a deliberate act of revenge against Haaland for the
criticism he received from him on the field three and a half years ago. Following
this statement, Keane found himself subject to an investigation by the Football
Association, who claimed the paraphrase was inaccurate by the writer, but
received a further five match ban and a £150,000 fine for bringing the sport
into disrepute.
That summer, Haaland underwent surgery on his left knee,
made just four substitute appearances the following season, finally retiring in
July 2003 after failing to regain full fitness. Haaland was originally
contracted to Manchester City until the end of the 2004–05 season, but in his
contract it was stated that City could terminate the contract if medical
conditions indicated he could never play football again, and he decided to use
that option.
After the release of Kane's autobiography in 2002, it was
stated that Haaland and Manchester City considered taking legal action against
him. However, it turned out that Haaland had stated on his personal website
that he had been playing with an injury to his left knee for a few months, that
his left leg had not taken a hit in the match (Kane kicked his right thigh),
and that Kane had not caused his long-term injury. Legal action in February
2003 after the club reviewed the medical advice. Roy Keane stated some time ago
that he regrets many things in his career, but that incident is not one of
them.

for Norway-based club Rosland BK Braine in August 2011. He retired again in
